Local printing is slow due to TrueType fonts not sent as graphics.
Cause:
Windows 95 is not set to rasterize each font character before sending the output to the HP LaserJet II or III printer as a separate bitmap font. On earlier laser printers, Windows 95 prints TrueType fonts as graphics.
Solution:
In the 'Printers' window, right-click the appropriate printer icon and select 'Properties'. Click the 'Fonts' tab and select the 'Download TrueType as Bitmaps Soft Fonts' radio button. Click 'OK'.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Printers'. (The 'Printers' window appears.)
3) Right-click the appropriate printer icon. (A pop-up menu appears.)
4) Select 'Properties'. (The '<printer> Properties' dialog box appears, where <printer> is the name of the selected printer.)
5) Click the 'Fonts' tab. (The 'Fonts' tabbed page appears.)
6) Select the 'Download TrueType as Bitmap Soft Fonts' radio button.
NOTE: This option may not be available for all printer drivers. If the option is missing, consult your printer owner's manual for more information concerning using bitmap print fonts.
7) Click 'OK' to close the '<printer> Properties' dialog box.
8) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to close the 'Printers' window.
9) In the appropriate application, select the 'File' menu and select 'Print...' to print the document. (The 'Print' dialog box appears.)
10) Click 'OK' to print the document.
